How Does Merchant Account Work?
A merchant account is an account that is created so that a business or individual can accept credit cards, debit cards, gift cards and other forms of electronic payment. This is also widely known as payment processing.
Merchant Account is created by processors (such as TSYS, FDC, Global, etc). Merchant Accounts are bank independent. A given merchant account can connect to any bank account. Therefore, no matter which bank the merchant is using, they can change processors at will and they do not have to obtain their merchant account from their bank.
To process transactions, a merchant is charged a fee called a discount rate. The discount rate is a percentage of the dollar amount of the transaction. The discount rate varies, but is based on the business type, the method the transaction is taken (Swiped, Keyed, Internet), and other qualifying factors. An additional fee called a transaction fee, normally a flat fee, is also applied for each transaction that the merchant processes.
How Does CreditLine Work?
What Is Included In A License?
A credit card software license is based on a merchant account. You can use up to 30 free terminals with a single merchant account license. There are no surcharges or monthly fees.
How To Get A License?
Credit card software has to be setup differently for every merchant account.
- Fill out the CreditLine Setup Sheet for the correct processor
- Setup the merchant account in CreditLine
- Test the new merchant account
- Attach ccv_info.dat file from c:\911\data directory to email addressed to File:Email license.PNG.
- Put the following into the subject of the email: DEALER_COMPANY_NAME - MERCHANT_NAME - NEW_LICENSE. See #Merchants Switching Processors if the merchant already has a valid license and needs to change his setup.
- We will license the file, test the batching and email the licensed back to you within 24 hours (typically within a couple of hours or sooner).
- Copy licensed ccv_info.dat into c:\911\data directory
- Restart CreditLine Server to apply changes
- Check the setup in CreditLine Manager to make sure that your business information is correct
- You are now ready to accept charges on your new merchant account!
Merchants Switching Processors
If a merchant with a current license needs to switch processors:

- We will license the file, test the batching and email the licensed back to you within 24 hours (typically within a couple of hours or sooner).
- Copy licensed ccv_info.dat into c:\911\data directory
- Restart CreditLine Server to apply changes
- Check the setup in CreditLine Manager to make sure that your business information is correct
